A client demand for a unified and continuous uncluttered space offered a possibility for minimalist intervention with a focus on materials and detail. Where transparency and light were used in the transition to link internal spaces to the garden.

Includes a  sunken wine cellar arranged around a precast concrete spiral staircase linked to kitchen space and accessed via a mechanised trap door. Due to the tight diameter the drum was hand dug and water pumped direct to adjacent river , sheathed slab poured with corrugated shuttering placed prior to pouring concrete wall. A precast staircase was then placed together with the concrete shelving elements which provide shelving and bottle racks for wine prior to fixing steel and tempered reinforced glass trap door.

A crafted oak staircase together with solid oak doors create a unified space where the additional new fuses with the existing to offer a seamless experience.

Transparency and light are key qualities in an attempt for uninterrupted continuous space.
